What Kind of Cheese Goes on a Smaller Charcuterie Platter

When you are assembling a simple small charcuterie board you are limited on space. Considering there are so many different types of cheese you want to go with your absolute favorite cheeses. Think of it like a small cheese board. Whether you prefer soft cheese or hard cheese. Or goat cheese or blue cheese. The best cheese is the one that you love the most. For a small board, I would say choose two kinds of cheese. We are using simple raw organic cheddar.

What Kind of Meats Goes on a Traditional Charcuterie Board

When it comes to the different types of meat that you can include on your charcuterie board, again you have a variety to choose from. Typically you will opt for simple meats like cured meats, summer sausage, or even deli meat. We are using a simple genoa salami and thin slices of prosciutto. You’ll see that the other things on the board like fruit will balance the salt of the meat with the sweetness of the fruit. It’s all about balance.

How to Arrange the Perfect Charcuterie Board

This small charcuterie board recipe is basically a small version of a large charcuterie board. Grab a smaller board than your typical large board and work your way through your ingredients starting with the largest items first. Arrange the items with different textures and colors balancing off one another. For example, don’t place all of the red items together. The key to a beautiful charcuterie board is to showcase a wide array of colors. Other than that, there really is no wrong way to arrange your board.
