How to Make This Easy Banana Bread
First, preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Line a bread loaf pan with parchment paper and set aside.
Next, combine all of the dry ingredients, minus the chocolate chips in a large bowl. Stir to mix thoroughly.

In a separate bowl, use a fork or potato masher to mash bananas. Overripe bananas will give the most sweet banana flavor to this delicious banana bread recipe.

Add the remaining wet ingredients to the bowl with the mashed bananas. Stir to combine these as well.

Next, pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix with a spoon or spatula. This easy recipe does not require a fancy hand mixer.

The banana bread batter should not be heavy, thick, thin, or runny. It is actually light and fluffy with an even consistency.

Lastly, fold in the chocolate chips. Leave a few out to be able to sprinkle on top of the bread loaf.

Prepare the Loaf Pan
Grab your prepared loaf pan. Instead of using a greased loaf pan, I prefer parchment paper. It is my favorite method for the least amount of mess. Pour the banana bread batter into the loaf pan.

Sprinkle the top of the batter with the remaining chocolate chips.

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes.
Before removing the banana bread from the oven make sure to perform the toothpick test. This classic banana bread recipe is ready when the edges are a slight golden brown and it passes the toothpick test. When those two things are reached remove the banana bread from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool.

The parchment paper allows for easy removal of the bread from the pan.

Allow the banana bread to cool. Then remove the banana bread loaf from the parchment paper and serve on your favorite serving platter.

The bread will be easier to slice at room temperature, but it is totally understandable to want to enjoy it while still warm.

Banana Bread Without Butter Recipe Variations, Substitutions & FAQs
- Can I add sugar to this banana bread recipe? You can, we prefer the natural sweetness of the banana along with the pure maple syrup. If you do add sugar, it will alter the original recipe. We would suggest coconut sugar if absolutely necessary.
- Is there a vegan option for this recipe? Flax eggs are a great substitute for eggs to make this a vegan recipe.
- What if I don’t have vanilla bean powder? Vanilla bean powder is simply a more pure version of vanilla. You can find it online here: vanilla bean powder, or use vanilla extract if that is what you have on hand.
- Can I use almond flour instead? yes, you can swap out cashew flour for almond flour if you’d like.
- Does this taste like coconut? No, the coconut oil does not make this banana bread taste like coconut. We prefer coconut oil when baking over inflammatory oils like vegetable oil or canola oil.

Wow, I was making banana bread today and was so lazy that I just blended all the ingredients together in a blender and couldn’t believe it turned out better than the usual banana bread. Still, it didn’t look as good as yours. My kid is on a cancer diet, and he loves banana bread, so your recipe will be just perfect for making it next week again. Hugs.
